At the weekend Cable racing was racing at Snetterton for round 2 of the championship.
Free practice the boys finished 17th putting their fastest lap of 2.07. Qualifying was the last thing on Friday and the boys still making steady progress going forward they ended up 14th with a 2.05 lap on their last lap.
In race 1 the boys finished 11th with the chequed flag coming out early due to the race being red flagged because Todd Ellis and Charlie Richardson while in the lead putting it upside down on the first corner (Riches) both ok and walked away, so race 1 was won by Tim Reeves and Kevin Rousseau. It is Kevin’s first time at the fast Snetterton circuit and Tim’s first time back in a few season.
Race 2 the boys started from pole as someone in front of them pulled out so everyone moved up and reversed grid from race 1. They held the lead for half a lap but still finding pace all the time during the weekend they may have finished 11th but still put their quickest lap of the weekend of 2.03.
The race finished like this Reeves & Rousseau 2nd Ellis & Richardson who did well after Saturdays race and Stevens & Allum rounding off the podium.
The championship will now move on to above the boarder to Knockhill 19th – 20th September.
On the Hawthorn United front the lads are still getting friendly games under their belts.
On Thursday 20th the first team went to Leiston FC U18’s unfortunately they lost 7-0 but went down to 10 men in the 47th minute but should keep in mind that it was still only the 3rd game they had played together.
At the weekend 1st team lost 4-0 away at Northwold. Reserves lost 3-2 to Calton Collville A at home with one of the goals coming from the penalty spot for Hawthorn’s captain Oscar Pope.
Both teams will be at home this weekend.
